Welcome to my blog.
My name is Chandra Sekhar, and I have spent a significant part of my professional career working in the aerospace industry, particularly in aircraft manufacturing, quality assurance and quality control.
Over the years, my work has given me the opportunity to observe how aircraft and aerospace components move through the complete quality cycle — from engineering requirements and manufacturing processes to inspection, documentation, maintenance and final acceptance.
This blog is an attempt to share some of that practical knowledge in a simple, understandable way.
Why I Started This Blog
Aviation is often discussed in terms of aircraft specifications, speed, altitude, engines and technology.
But there is another side of aviation that passengers rarely see.
Behind every aircraft is a large engineering and quality system involving:
Design
Manufacturing
Inspection
Testing
Maintenance
Quality assurance
Quality control
Documentation
Training
Regulatory compliance
I have always been particularly interested in this less visible side of aviation.
A drawing may define what a component should look like, but manufacturing must turn that drawing into a physical component. Inspection must then establish conformity, and the quality system must preserve the evidence that the required processes were followed.
That connection between engineering, manufacturing and quality is one of the main themes of this blog.
My Professional Perspective
My professional experience has been primarily associated with aerospace manufacturing and QA/QC activities.
During my career, I have been involved in areas where attention to detail, process discipline, inspection and documentation are important parts of producing and maintaining aerospace hardware.
I have also had opportunities to interact with personnel associated with aircraft and aerospace organisations and to share technical knowledge through training and professional interaction.
One of the things I learned from working in this environment is that aerospace quality is not simply about finding defects.
It is about preventing defects, controlling processes, maintaining traceability and ensuring that the finished product meets the applicable requirements.

A Practical Approach
I try to write about aerospace subjects in a way that goes beyond textbook definitions.
For example, rather than simply explaining what a Process FMEA (PFMEA) is, I prefer to discuss what can actually go wrong during manufacturing.
Instead of simply defining inspection, I like to explain why an inspection stage is placed at a particular point in the manufacturing process.
And rather than saying that documentation is important, I try to explain how a manufacturing record can become critical when a component's history needs to be investigated.
This practical approach comes from years of working around aerospace manufacturing and quality environments.
Sharing Knowledge
One of my reasons for creating this blog is to make aerospace knowledge more accessible.
Aviation can appear complicated to someone outside the industry because it contains its own terminology, processes and standards.
My aim is to explain these subjects without unnecessarily complicated language while retaining the engineering principles behind them.
